There are few times in the life of a celiac sufferer, when he or she discovers something truly unique. Well I believe I have done just that. I’ve always said that if my disease went away today, the first place I would go would be between my favorite pizzeria and my favorite deli. But then I found Gluten Free Gloriously (see review) which has pizza almost as good as any I can remember pre-diagnosis, and now I’ve found Hoboken Farms Sandwich Shop, a deli in Summit, NJ in which a person with celiac disease can TRULY feel comfortable.
Hoboken Farms is owned by a man named Brad. Brad’s son does not have celiac disease, but instead goes into anaphylactic shock whenever he comes in contact with the slightest bit of gluten. So you can understand why I am so confident that they take cross contamination seriously. Read below, or click here, to hear about what they do to MAKE SURE to the best of their abilities that you never get sick.
Greg, the head chef, is an extremely friendly guy who makes the most outlandish and delicious sandwiches you’ve had in a long time. I border on getting emotional each time I go there because I’ve missed going to my local deli so much.
I’ve eaten here about 30 times now and not once have I had the slightest reaction from the food. If you live around the area or can make the 25 minute trip from NYC then you will have access to something most celiac sufferers thought they would never have access to again: a delicious, messy, mouthwatering deli sandwich made precisely to your liking. Say hi to Brad and Greg for me, and happy eating!
